Lowe’s Build and Grow

This past Saturday we took the boys to our local Lowe’s store for the monthly Build and Grow kids workshop.  We only recently started attending these and both Junior and JD love them. Home Depot also has an once-a-month workshop for the young’uns.

Yesterday they made a Kung Fu Panda block game. It was pretty simple to put together, unlike the Penske moving truck they made last time at Home Depot, which required me to actually read the directions.  I worked with Junior and Daddy worked with JD.  Junior was able to put most of his together by himself with very little assistance. He loves putting on his own apron and when he’s finished he receives a cute little iron-on patch. For a two and a half year old, JD did a fair amount of his own hammering as well. That kid loves being destructive to take things apart and hammer stuff… so this is right up his alley.

Both Lowes and Home Depot do a great job providing these workshops for the kids…. and did I mention, they are FREE? The kids also get a certificate of completion after each one, and for a six year old, that is big stuff. I think we will enjoy doing this with the boys for many years. Its good family time for us AND an opportunity for me to breeze through the store (especially the garden center!) and check out any new clearance items 🙂
