I could not have been more surprised to read my dear friend, Debra Mayhew’s blog post yesterday! Debra is a published author and always brings a little sunshine into my life with her blog. It’s quite inspiring to see Debra balance motherhood, marriage and also nurture her own love of writing! Since I am rather new at this entire blogging experience, I am so honored to accept the Sunshine Award. Continue reading
Last week my Mother-in-law came down for a week-long visit. While she was here it was almost like a “stay-cation” for the boys and me. One of the best parts of homeschooling is being able to take time off from our usual studies and have mid-week field trips! 🙂 Unfortunately, this is my husband’s busy time at work so he missed out on a lot of the fun. We had a lovely day at the beach, shopping, a bowling outing and probably one of the most enjoyable days was spent at the Jacksonville Zoo. Continue reading
Henry is hungry.
The last several days have been dreary and chilly. The boys and I had barely stepped outdoors and we were all going just a little bit stir crazy. To combat impending craziness, (one of us was oh so close to being there!) we decided to do something worthwhile and feed our hungry neighbors. Aren’t they lovely? Continue reading
After supper on a December night,
the sun has gone down and the stars are bright.
The breeze blows cold but the children don’t mind.
They’re thrilled to see this show of a different kind. Continue reading
HATE really dislike pre-lit trees… Yes, they are absolutely splendid the first three to four years after bringing the chosen one home from your local home improvement store. Then, about 3.5 years down the road , right after the warranty expires (imagine that!), things start going downhill and fast. Continue reading
On this Thanksgiving Eve….
I am so thankful to be back in Georgia and closer to our loved ones. Even today, we are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Grandmomma and Granddaddy and my younger brother, and thankfully they have a shorter drive here than most of the other places we have lived. I love having company and cooking for everyone!
I am so thankful to live in such a beautiful area. I love being outdoors and living here provides many opportunities to get outside! One of the nicest things about being in the South is the weather, at least during the Fall, Winter and Spring. 🙂
I am so thankful for my husband. We have been together for over ten years and I hope to have another fifty. We love each other and we put up with each other. 🙂
I am so thankful that my hard-working husband has a job. Although we are making sacrifices for me to be a stay-at-home mom, I am thankful that my husband will do everything that he can to make this work and support me at home as well. Not everyone ENJOYS being a homemaker, but I can honestly say that I do.
I am so thankful for our two healthy boys. They are AWESOME. Yeah, they drive me nuts on a daily basis, but I wouldn’t trade being a mother for anything. Watching them learn and grow and hearing their sweet “I love yous” brings me so much joy.
Most importantly, my life would be incomplete without a relationship with my Heavenly Father. When I think about my Saviour and everything He has done, I cannot help but feel gratitude and love!
Sunbeams highlight the verdant green.
Dark clouds contrast the peaceful scene.
A storm is blowing,
Shadows are growing.
We’re caught in a squall but thankful for cover.
The rain falls loudly but then it is over.
About a month ago, I was talking with the grandparents about Christmas ideas for the boys. After two major moves in the last year we have cleared out and given away A LOT of outgrown and unused toys. Presently the boys share a room and we have limited storage space as well. We came up with the idea of new bedroom furniture for the boys’ Christmas. All the grandparents chipped in and we were able to order these awesome captain’s beds and this gorgeous bedding. Christmas came a little early this year and we are so thankful for generous grandparents! Continue reading
A recent trip to Joann’s Fabric Store inspired me to pick up an embroidery hoop again. I love to craft and create but oftentimes my crafting can get rather messy or time restrictive. Embroidery is something that I can easily pick up and put down, while out and about, or sitting on the couch in the evening watching TV. Continue reading
“They say I’m old-fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast!” ― Dr. Seuss
I cannot tell you where the last few weeks have gone… Between lots of family visits, homeschooling, and my not so itty bitty (37.5 lb!) baby boy turning three years old this month, we have been keeping busy! With every birthday that passes, I am reminded again how incredibly blessed we are and so thankful for our two boys. Continue reading
